te-63E and TE-45 are where the big shafts begin.....anything bigger than these will most likely be large shaft turbos ie 63 mm compressor wheel and up

although I'm sure there are exceptions.......

the reason im asking is because i believe i have a te63.i just want to make sure.any other helpful info you can give me?is the size of the nut on the compressor side different sizes between the two?

thanks,nick

Nick,

Look in the compressor inlet, measure the diameter of the
threaded portion of the shaft. If it is 1/4" it is small shaft, if
it is 5/16" it is large shaft (T04S). There are several different
shaft nuts used in the aftermarket so you need to measure
the thread diameter.
