What does an original stock T-type run in a quater mile? Then what would it run with alky? Looking for a car for my buddy and he really likes my GN but thier prices are way too high. Now we are either looking for a G-body with a SBC 350 or a T-type.
Thanks for the help.

Bone stock they ran 14.2.

Stock turbo, intercooler and injectors you can crack the 11's with a chip, boost, traction, K&N and a dump, even on pump gas with Alchy.

My best stock turbo, intercooler, injector time was 12.2 @ 110.5 with crappy 1.8 60 fts, using a Thrasher 108 chip and race gas.

Mods were K&N and a THDP with a dump.

Here is some info for ya.

History of the GN (1986-1987)

North America's Fastest Production Cars

The Grand National / T-Type / Turbo Regal Buick Media Index

The really good magazine was the May '86 Hot Rod with the article titled, "King of the Street" about the 1986 T-Type.
I guess you could realistically call our cars the "Fastest Affordable New American Built cars" in the US for 1986 & 1987.
FWIW, 2 weeks after purchasing my '86 T-Type back in '94, my first track visit with the only upgrade being a pair of 265/50/15 BFG Radial T/As was a 14.02 @ 98 mph.
Gotta love it.

My BONE STOCK 87 stripper T ran a best of 14.01 @ 96mph. That was with stock sized tires, and everything else "factory". I base lined it in the fall, so it was about 50deg if I rememeber correctly. I've seen everything from 14.60's down to high 13's so everycar will be different. Of course my T only has 4 options!!!

In 1987 we had a "Buick Day" at Firebird raceway with lots of turbo cars. It was in the spring with temps in the 80's, 90's or so.

The TRUE stock cars like mine, with NO mods or tires, were lucky to see a 14 sec. time slip, most were 15.1 or 15.2. The crap Goodyear GT tires would break loose even in second gear shift on the track.

Now if you believe what the magazines published, I have a real FAST stock GN I will sell cheap!

My 87 T ran 14.2 @ 96 when it was 100% original / stock with 14K miles in the early 90's. I'm talking original Goodyear GT's, cat, stock chip, 93 octane gas, ect. - everything. No tricks at all.

Those times are believeable as the cars were new, inexperienced "new Turbo car drivers, and the heat. And yes, I do believe what the magazines published as I was at Atco Raceway in New Jersey when Cars Illustrated got a 13.92 out of a STOCK 87 T. We also got a 14flat out of my brothers STOCK 87 Turbo T when he first bought it. The previous owner was a guy in his 60's and he kept it 100% stock. Of course we new how to drive them for the best possible ET also. ;)

I took my 87 T to the track bone stock about 15yrs. ago, stock tires with cat and air cleaner, stock chip, etc. 3 passes each @ 14.1 @97, 14.2 @98, 14.3 at 99 mph, still have the time slips. ps, this was my very first time down a quarter mile track with any car.
