Would I see much of an increase in spool-up if I installed an rjc boost controller on a stock turbo? Or are these more beneficial to bigger turbos?

Now my understanding of a boost controller is that it does not send a signal to the wastegate solenoid until it reaches a certain boost threshold. So does this mean that if it is set at 15 psi, I will never see less than 15 psi of boost under part throttle like I do now? And how does a boost controller impact the ability to build 2-3 pounds of boost against the brake?

Finally, it might be a dumb question but how does the RJC boost controller compare to the $10 ebay units?

There is no magic to a boost controller. It is simply holding the pressure back from hitting the wastegate. It holds the pressure to a preset level then hits the wastegate quickly. You will see quicker spool up and a harder hit when the boost comes on and yes you will see lower boost levels under the 15 pound mark if that is where you set it.

There are so many on ebay that makes it almost impossible to answer that question. RJC's is a proven controller with the proper spring seat pressure.

Ok. So I have a T49 Turbo and no boost controller. What would be the best one to get?

Personally I would stick with a known good one. RJC, Q boost, Joe P mbc. You want to get a quality piece that is dependable.

Is there a disadvantage to using a boost controller and not being able to build a few pounds of boost up against the foot brake? Or does the fact that it spools up so quickly with a boost controller eliminate the need to build boost against the brake?

Also, when running alky injection, are there any problems with the alky controller not being able to respond fast enough to the faster spool-up of the turbo resulting in knock?

you will still be able to bring the boost up on the brake. also the alky kit will be able to keep up. you will notice a faster spool up but will not have any other problems with it being there. get a RJC controller and be done with it
