PURCHASED A G.N. FROM BOOSTJUNKIE 2 MOS AGO NO TITLE YET, NUMEROUS EMAILS, P.M.'S AND PHONE CALLS WOUND UP WITH FALSE PROMISES AND A CAR I CANT DO ANYTHING WITH NOW. PICKED UP THE CAR HE CLAIMED TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THE TITLE BUT WAS GOING TO NEXT DAY AIR IT THE FOLLOWING DAY-DID NOT HAPPEN. THREE WEEKS GO BY AND I HAVE TO CONTACT HIM TO FIND OUT WHATS UP, CLAIMS HE HAS BEEN BUSY BUT WOULD GET IT OUT A.S.A.P.--DID'NT HAPPEN. Can't you file for a lost title? you know his name and address and let the DMV handle it from there. Hope you get it!

Law requires a seller to produce a title with in 90 days of sale, if it was agreed on that one would be received. After the 90 days you could force him to take the car back, plus an additional 15% of what you paid. If you know a car salesman, auto rebuilder or a salvage dealer, ask him who the local state inspector is & contact them. These guys are feared among rebuilders & salvage dealers when it comes to auto titles.

Or you could work with the seller as posted above and file for a lost title application.

Or if all else fails try to get a mechanics lien on the car the get a new title that way.
It really sucks but at least you would be able to move forward.

Tim i have been around this board for a long time and would never misslead you or any one . i told you i have the title 100% just needed to have put in your name and propper ID of the owner must be shown at the notary . i was promised by Rob that when he got back in town Tuesday he would meet up and take care of this, he did not call me till today . i am going to get this taken care of over the weekend and send the title to you with a tracking number . i waited for a guy to get a title replaced cause it looked like it got washed with his pants. couldnt transfer that, he filed for a lost title and the state was "backed-up" and said it could take 6 months. 8 months later he said he had the title but i went to get it the day after he called and poof, it was gone again. his wife got all pissed at him when he couldnt find it and accused him of title loaning it along with the title of the car he bought from me.(i took a partial trade) so the day after that he had an untitled car in his drive. anywho, good luck with that title, i hope he just gets it to you. you're good people tim:biggrin: good luck.

drove 41/2 hrs to meet halfway, he shows up without the title claiming he forgot it and would send it out airmail the next day, i trusted him, my mistake. by the way its wednesday and i do not have tracking #'s.

Every couple of weeks its a new excuse. underdog is my brother and half this car belongs to me. WE HAVE BEEN SCREWED by Shawn-the stand up guy. Our local P.D. is now on board to help us. I hope it works out.

Sounds like everything got worked out but....in some states a mechanic's lein results in a salvage title. My brother got his car as the result of a mechanic's lein and PA issued a salvage title for it which I assume will hurt the value of it. It's too bad because it was a meticulously documented (albeit high mileage) car in 100% original shape. He now has an NJ "R" title for it, which indicates a reconstructed salvage car which is not really an accurate representation of the vehicle.

from what i gather about this situation is that shawn was waiting for another gentleman to sign papers so how do you know shawn wasnt after this other guy to get them signed i know shawn made the deal but he was relying on another person to come through with his part of the deal. also the guy was in no hurry because it was going in the body shop
