well after checking & breaking my speedometer pointer. I bought and installed a new pointer, then speedometer worked good for 1 day. and now has gone back to bouncing or not working at all. I have taken wire out to grease & re-install with same results. I pulled out green 29 tooth gear from tranny as it looked like teeth were starting to wear & installed a balck 27 tooth gear which worked for 1 day. could it be the gear drive in tranny that is cause of my bouncy speedo?

well hell, that seems easy enough. all I wanted to do this weekend is my upolstery & now I gota get dirty. ;)

you know I had that green gear drive & it looked like the teeth were starting to round out.

well after putting the speedo cable on drill end, speedo does work. so I checked the crossmember bar & it was loose & missing 1 bolt. so I double checked tranny mount & all other bolts and seemed to have covered them all. if this doesn't fox the Bouncy speedo , I will just order the Gear Drive & wait for it to arrive, then just change tranny fluild/filter when I change Gear Drive.

Governor & Speedo Gear Removal

If the Driven gear was rounding off the Drive gear may also be damaged.
Install a Drain Plug in the Pan while you're there. It will make fluid changes much less of a pain.:)

SS64, looks like I will be chaging tranny fluid & filter very soon. it already has the Drain plug.
