The rear brake lights stay on when I get out or sometimes come on while the car is parked killing the battery. Bad switch?

you can adjust it.......look under the dash and the switch just snaps in place...

Brake switch is out of adjustment. Look near the top of the brake pedal lever and you will see two switches (assuming you have cruise control). Just push the switch up against the brake lever. The switch with the hose on it is for the cruise control. :)

brake light switch

I drive with hand controls. Over the years in numerous cars I have owned the ones I had problems with are the brake systems like the stock turbo regal power master. I always had to remember to pull the hand controls back or they would weigh down on the switch causing the brake lights to stay on killing the battery. When I converted a few turbo regals to vacuum I never had that problem again. If my memory serves me correctly the switch is threaded plastic that can strip out. You need to observe the part and if that is the case then replace it. Don't forget to adjust it correctly.
