Hey i'm new to the turbo buick forums and was wondering what it takes to build a aa model 200 4r to handle a 6.0 vortec in my 87 regal. the engine is completely stock and it didn't take long to bake the original band, chew up the stator splines and just slip in every gear.wondering what it takes to get brf performance out of one of the transmissions.any ideas?will be mostly street driven with very little race time.can you give me a list of the mods needed?and does anyone know the specific differences between my aa valve body and a brf?any help would be greatly appreciated.planning to run 3.42 gears with a truetrac diff if that helps any.

There are 5 different aa codes.Does the aa code have an orange governor gear? The BRF is not the be all end all of 2004r performance valve bodies.Higher revving 3.8 motors benefit from other calibrations .As you can see by searching I developed the KC and others to give better performance and the masses have followed my lead. The right aa can work great and can be set up to shift right where you want it.I suggest using my master rebuild kit c and a billet forward drum and servo and you will have a trans capable of holding 500 horsepower.Dont fall into the "you dont need a billet forward drum " crap and wind up with a broken drum that leaves you stuck on the road and in need of a towtruck.Alot of people have cheaped out and paid the price of the drum on the tow and overhaul after breaking it.We all know Bruces parts supplier is building and selling billet parts to the other trans vendors on this forum at a low price. Therefore I have made my items even more affordable and cost effective for your 2004r rebuild. There is no reason not to use a drum.If you want to do the build or have someone you know build it with your supplied parts contact me and I will give you the parts and information you need to do it right.

ok sorry about just starting a thread and runnin' off like that.i'm leanin towards the build it myself way an it's a more red color on the governor gear.looked at your site quite a few times and have to say common sense descriptions finally!should of gave a better description though iwant more of a low shift point just a good gear grabber after all my rev limit is only 5000.i just need some insight on what exactly i need to do here.there seems to be a lot of different opinions on what holds up.and yeah the billet drum is a must my olds 307 gave the stock one a good run and that let me know right there.i'll probly ring a call here soon to check ya out.got a million valve body questions.accumulator springs?,throttle valve size?,grand national versus billet servo? And what is the famous billet servo dowshift clunk problem?and to dave and bison thanks for the messages i'll check ya out to.

You can use any 2004R valvebody. Have been doing it for 6+ years. Chris has got you on the right track.

All v body mods are included in the master kit.If you need specifics email me.
