OK, humor me for a moment:
I am thinking that a combo bumper filler/bumper would really update the look of our cars. Take a look at the newer Challenger, that's what I'm talking about...
I was thinking about shaving my bumpers but a smooth bumper that flows right into the fillers is the look I'd like.
Anyone seen anything like this on the market?

A few people have done one off pieces for race cars. I'm "guessing" that they grafted a set of fiberglass bumpers to a set of fiberglass fillers. I don't believe anyone has made a mold to do a production run as of yet. There has been talk about doing it. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/threads/one-piece-bumper-fillers.367361/
Not sure where it's at lately. Many people have bugged me about doing it. I'm just not sure that it would be a profitable venture. It would be an expensive mold and part to make, and with such a limited market you'd most likely never even see the brake even point, when you figured all the hours needed to make a run of them possible. My advise to someone who wants this look is to buy a set of fiberglass bumper fillers. Fit them to your car until you're happy with how they line up. With them still attached to your car, cut down and graft a fiberglass bumper to the fillers until it is beyond your skill level. Then take it to a body shop to have finished. Please post pictures if you do.:)

Here's a few issues to think about.

Front filler/bumper: What fits nice on one car may be a mile off on another. Mostly do to fender alignment. With some patience, one should be able to shim and tweak this to fit.

Front and rear filler/bumper: Both the front and rear fillers mount to the body portion of the car. While the bumpers mount to the frame. There are thick rubber bushings between the body and frame of these cars. This flex point would make it difficult to mount to the bumper supports and not over flex the part. Straps could be run off the bottom of the bumpers to add needed strength.

If no one runs with this project, some day I may make a set just to see what's involved. I'll do a thread with pictures if I do.;)

Happy Spooling.

It was done in the 80's and usually had side skirts and new front spoiler. They weren't very pretty but they did give that "aero" look to them.:sorry::finger:
