call out of country and recieving calls from out of country

Gonna be out of the country and want to know how to make calls to the usa,dont want the charges on my cell phone bill,can i get a phone card and still use my existing cell from while in Europe....and does the person i call get charged if i call them in the usa while i am in europe...any input.. thank Dennis :smile:
 
No i will not when out of country,but the people here will have internet,prolly doesnt help since i will be interenet -less...
 
Depending how long you are going to be there, this could work out for you. When I was stationed in Germany I was in and out of europe, us, and the middle east so much i bought a cheep prepaid phone. Usually they can give you a AT&T 800 number that you can use a prepaid phone card. That is what i always did and it seemed to be the cheepest way to call. HTH
 
I usually take an unlocked GSM phone with me when I travel to Europe/Asia and get it activated over there. It's much cheaper to call U.S. from a local cellphone over there than using your U.S. cellphone there. Once the phone is active over there, you can buy prepaid minutes. I once used my AT&T phone in Germany and was charged something like $3/minute on top of a $5 roaming fee. When using a local cellphone there, the cost to call the U.S. was something like 12 cents per minute.
