We came home to this one day. He was healthy and almost 5ft long. I didn't know if he had any diseases so I grabbed my gloves. Took him down the arroyo and let him go out in the desert away from the dogs.

SignUp Now!There are 4 venomous snakes native to North America. Pit vipers and coral snakes. Hognose snakes and a few water snakes can have a diamond shapped head as well and are not poisonous.
The scarlet milk snake looks like the Coral snake and fools many so stay away. Coral snakes are related to Cobras I believe.
There are no definite rules when it comes to identifying poisonous snakes. Some have pits and some don't. Some have large heads, others don't.

Sure am... I will kill one and have been very close to themBut when people pick them up and touch them I want to hurl... Snakes are killers plain and simple they exist for no other reason...
Snakes make great pets and they keep burglers out of your house!!!
I've raised Red Tail boas, Columbian Rainbow boas and have been around snakes since I was a little kid!! They arent the monsters/killers that some people make them out to be!! Rattlesnakes make good chili......
I remember when my son was about 8-9 and he played soccer with Andy Benes kid. Andy was a pitcher for the padres and stood 6'7". My son walked up to him with his rosey boa which was only 2 foot long. Andy was sitting in a folding chair at the soccer game and when he saw the snake, he jumped out of the chair and took off running!! One of the funniest things I have ever seen..............:biggrin:
Why am I not surprised that you like to play with snakes![]()

Well I tried, was planning to leave his head for last and grab him behind the head...but he was too stuck so he got the hammer treatment...I would pay money to witness that.
From a safe distance, of course.![]()
The next time was at my old shop. My EX-(SORRY SOB) partners dog was barking and we went out to find what she was fussing about. It turned out to be a baby ratler. Mike is deathly afraid of snakes btw. I cut it's head off and when I tried to take it into the shop so I could get a better look at it he pulled his .45 on me and said "get the hell out". No jokes.![]()
