No,don't try using it like that.
Your machine shop should be able to get the materials and fix the block if not then you need to find another shop.
I have only had 1 block that needed repairing like this and my local shop guys never batted an eye when i brought it to them to see if they could fix it,it didn't take them long at all since they had done them before and had the experience and know how.
