Looks like you have to take the cover back off:frown:. The roller chain is going to tear that tensioner up and send the debris in the engine (Hopefully in the pan). Also make sure the keyway on the crank sprocket is not retarded.
 
some of the roller timing sets have multiple sets of keyways and can be confusing to install.

If the cam is too far out of time the engine will run crappy and you may have valves hitting the pistons.

Somethings not right and deep-engine noises don't usually fix themselves....
