Can a wastegate be too big

I recently had a chance to visit Barbers Motorcycle museum in Alabama. Awesome place.

They had some older Indy cars (?) and engines and I was surprised at the size of the wg. I do not recall any specifics of the setup but recall the engine being smaller than 231 and made a lot of power. Someone correct me if my memory fails me . . . Again.

Mike, where/how would you vent the exhaust rather then plum it back into the down pipe. I guess what I mean is where would be a safe place to vent the exhaust? Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Would like to do the same with my application. I've ceramic coated my headers and DP and if I can avoid cutting holes in it, welding the new plumbing to it, and then having to get it ceramic coated again I would like to.

I've seen evo x's with the wastegate dump right beside the bottom of the fire wall.

In my ths car, I dumped the Wastegate straight down between the radiator and engine. Never had any issues.
