I know I can remove weight from the original brf governor but what about just installing a monte SS goveror would that raise it a few hundred? My car is shifting at 5200 now but I wanted it to shift at 5600-5800 range.

The 2 are very similar,it wont help. You can install a .030 shim between the tv limit spring and the roll pin and give it a road test to see if it raises it up.

what converter and hp do you have?

When I put an SS governor in my trans the shift points whent from 5,000 to 5,500. To bring it up to 6,200 I put a stiffer spring in with the TV limit valve. Shimming it,as Chris suggests, will accomplish the same thing. Try both so you can see what happens for yourself. Then you can post your results. Try one then the other so you can learn how effective each is.

Also make sure the spring you use easily sourced so if it works you can find another easily and others can try it for repeatability.
