Woody,

Are you currently running the Limit GT70 Ptrim with the Art Carr "N" stall 9" non lu convertor ? If so, how do you like it?

Did you ever try that convertor with your old 45A ?

Thanks,

Clayton

yep, running the AC.....never tried it with my 45A.....always used a Precision "6" pump lu

it works fine with the 70P

Just wanted to give an update on my spool issure with the 70GTQ. Just finished a FAST install, and meet my turner at the track last night. Before the FAST my best 60" was a 1.62'(with the 70GTQ), but last night was best ever - 60' of 1.3873 - 1/4 10.5004 - 126.12 mph.

Have to give the credit to the turner Todd King, he post here as TurboTR aka Sprayhead. If you need help with your FAST tune he is the man here in Central Texas.

Todd if you read this post, hope I got your handle right - thanks again for all of your help:)

that's a great 60' time!

(and 1/4 mile time, although the mph seems down a bit?.....at 10.50 on my car with the 70gtp, my mph is around 128-9.....of course, my 60's are in the high 1.4x range at that et)

my question on the GTQ spool would be, can you cut a lite with it at launch boost? And if so, what is your staging procedure and launch boost? Thanks....

You're very welcome James :) Yes the speed is down some for now. James was pedaling some on the big end :) (TPS down some ~ 25% for about the last 1/4 of the run). And the tune is conservative. Plus, it false knocked (probably IMO) 3 times and pulled 5 more deg of timing during the 10.50 run. I had zeroed that stuff out previously, but there seems to be an issue with his box not saving some of the tables correctly(?). Anyway, the 10.50 was only the 2nd pass with the FAST system on it. The 1st pass was a 10.88. In general, I prefer to work up from the overly safe, conservative side. The car should only go better as it all gets honed in...

Some observations as I see them. The GT hybrid turbos seem to spool noticeably better than the non-GT's do IME. James' converter is too tight for this perf level IMO- it only goes to about 27-2800 rpm at 0 boost, wot. Yet the GTQ turbo will still get over the hump, though it takes several sec to get there. I'd like to see another 500 rpm from it at least... The main reason it 60'd well, despite the too tight conv was the fact that the GTQ was still able to come up against it, and he was letting go as it was about to push through, just as it was all starting to zoom off "over the hump". And, he has a fresh set of nice, sticky slicks ;)

Other main issue currently IMO- the cam in it is very small. During the run, the car stays over the ~ effective rpm powerband basically the whole time. Dipped down to as low as ~ 5300 at the shifts, but averaged about 5600-5700 during the long 3rd gear pull. As the speed picks up that condition will only get worse. I would rec like a 218/218 at least, along with the best pushrods you can get for it and the appropriate springs, stat :) Then, along with honing in the tuneup, 135 here you come ;)

Good Question Woody, this 60' was done with a foot barke. To have any chance of a good lite, I'm gonna to have to launch with my trans. brake. My launch techinque is a work in process, just ask anyone who has seen me race :D

The point is that you can spool this turbo, it may take a launch boost controller to cut a lite - just more money!!

TurboTR,

Todd, you got just about everthing right but the slicks. I purchased those slicks used from Charlie Newman about a year ago. He had purchased them used from some racer in San Antonio. You are giving to much credit to the slicks, it was the tune;)

I purchased the FAST from a member of this board. He had purchased it about 18 months ago, and had never installed it. Accordingly, it's the not the new XFI version that has just come out.

Would the same recommended 4000 stall on the GTQ turbo be about the same if you re using a 350/400 trans verses the 2004r trans- i would think the 350/400 trans might need alittle more stall. any input appreciated.
