two?'s For the older dudes like myself.

Is the 1973 - 1977 GM 'A' body considered (Cutlass, Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Regal, LeMans, Century) ??????

Was there a change over time from A to G body 1978 or 80???????

I have a set of T-Tops that have a sticker someone marked on it that says 1977 Lemans A & G body? I am stumped.

on another note
Unless I am wrong, the intro of the Grand Prix in 1969 was the birth of the G body. That much I know to be true. I am not sure what happened in 1973 - did the GP remain a G body or did it become an A body? I think it remained a G body HELP I AM losing my mind at 45 :(

G-body did not start until 1978 all previous models were A-body cars.

HTH

64 thru 72 GM intermediates were A body. They include, Chevelle, lemans/GTO, Cutlass/442, Skylark/GS. I don't know why that wouldn't include Monte Carlo 70-72 and Grand Prix 69-72. They all shared the same frame. Now in 73 thru 77, I don't know if they changed the body letter designation or not but the frames were different, so they probably did. They downsized the intermediates in 78 thru 80 and are basically the same as 81 thru 87, but don't think they took the G designation till 81. I'm sure someone will chime in and know the correct information.

HMM interesting!
I guess these T-tops really are for A- body cars 1973 to 77

True they did change the frames in 73 to shorter ones
but maybe kept the (A) till 77.

Since they did not make T-tops prior to 73/74 I would assume these are for 77 & 75 range. Not 78 & up.

Keep em coming if you know.

The Malibu was a G-body car before 81.

73-77 did change but they were still labeled as A cars.
