Can't be many, but how many of you are running Cyberdyne Digital Dash?

I am just curious what problems you have had, what you did to fix them and any tips for installation? If you have one, maybe drop me an email!

i have one in my 87gn-havent been able to get the boost gauge to work yet.

dont know yet-havent had time lately to look at it,i have to check all the wiring connections-it doesnt even light up

I've had my Cyberdyne dash for 9 yrs. and haven't had any problems with it ( knock on wood ). Just took my time and followed the instructions, was a little time consuming. You have to put a T fitting in the oil sender line for cyberdynes oil pressure sending unit. I think I had to put in a different MAP sensor, one from the turbo trans am. What does your Instructions say? Got any more questions just e mail me and I'll try to help you the best I can. Tarey D.:)

Installation was a PITA, I spent a lot of time installing sender units & running wire. The electrical connectors gave me intermittant troubles & I've had to replace them. The same type connectors are available at NAPA & probably no better, I used heat shrink solder crimp splices.

The speed sensor buffer will not like the output from the Cyberdyne dash (orange wire). Disassemble the original dash to enable you to use the original speed sensor. Put the speed sensor in a protective box, platic bottle, jug, whatever to prevent the moving parts from accidentley grabbing a wire or whatever under the dash - I used one of the boxes packed withe the dash for one of the sensors. Place the speed sensor in its original location (behind the Cyberdyne dash) & hooked up to the original speedometer cable. Put the Cyberdyne speed sensor in the speedometer cable where it is joined (close to the PM). If you don't want to do this type setup & use the orange wire from the Cyberdyne dash, the speed sensor buffer will not give good readings to the ECM (tranny shift points will suffer & the Scanmaster showed up to 150 mph when travelling in traffic) - you'll also experience the cruise controll acting up & not wanting to hold a steady speed (I experienced a cruise control "hiccup" or the TR jerking intermittantly).

Once I finally got all the bugs out, I like the dash - it put almost all instruments needed on a TR where they belong & they can all be calibrated.

I haven't got the fuel gauge correct as of yet, due to the original piece of junk Buick fuel tank sending unit needs to be overhaulled.

So are you saying leave the orange wire disconnected? where is the speed sensor behind the original dash? How far back do I wanna disconnect the speedo cable from the orignal dash. In other words, do I just take the speedo out, and leave the original speedo cable running there with something around it? Thanks

Scott

The speed sensor is located on the back of the original Buick dash speedometer. The speedometer cable hooks to it. The speed sensor consists of a wheel which rotates with the speedometer cable & a led/optical sensor which is also hooked to the speed sensor buffer by 3 wires (one is green, one is black, & memory fades concerning the color of the other wire). The wheel has windows in it which the led/optical sensor uses to give pulses to the speed sensor buffer to allow it to calculate speed.

I was able to remove this section from the back of the original speedometer & it works.

Where Can I Get One??

Anyone know where I can pick up one of these??

Do they have a website??

Thanks,
Tony
