Car revs and barely moves forward?

Tuning GN with alky and standard bolt ons (stock turbo).

Getting ready for 5th pass when car just stops (about 10 mph) and revs only, barely moving forward or barely moving in reverse.

Trans fluid is a clear red, no burnt smell, car has 45K orig miles.

2 weeks prior to my tuning day, heard a whining/whirring noise while at idle and in gear. No sound while in neutral.

Any ideas what may be the problem? Please point me in right direction.

Mr. Dave Husek has offered to speak with me. I'd appreciate members input for similar problems.

possibly a bad torque converter give me more specifics

X2 on the converter, or possibly stripped the stator support splines.
Deffinately a "pull da trans" adventure ahead. Good luck.
