Well, i finally called Autometer and told them the guage was showing 250 deg but the fluid is no where near 250. They sent me a new sender absolutely free. Installed it and still pegging at 250 deg. Car shifts fine, and fluid is still normal temp. Anybody have an autometer temp guage go bad? Suggestions?

Send both back to them and let them decide what's wrong. It'll save you time and frustration. It may be something that you can't fix.

Test the snders and guage.

Water boils at 212 degrees F. Use boiling water to test the accuracy of the senders. It is unlikely that both senders are defective, may be the guage. Your trannie would work at 250 but would be short lived.

Usually that indicates it (the sender wire) is touching ground somewhere. I did it once with a water temp gauge and the eyelet was touching the tippy top of sender by 1mm or so, but that was enough. It read 250 all the time too. If not that then gauge is defective. I am an Auto Meter dealer and they are very good about replacing..:)Good Luck..
