Battery not charging . Alternator checked out ok . Terminals look tight and clean . Battery will take good external charge - just not when running in car .

Maybe a fused link ? What size and where is it located ?Any other suggestions . Tks

Is the dash battery idiot light burnt out? Believe it or not, if that bulb is missing or burnt out your battery will not charge.

+1. and check to be sure the firewall is properly grounded to the engine. If the firewall ground is off the alt may charge intermittently and you will never get a light on the dash. The battery will slowly die.

Tks for the tips . I'll be able to check these things out on the weekend . I'll let the board know what the problem was when solved

test

simplest test is to use a cheap voltage tester and just put the leads of the meter on the positive and negative posts of the battery and read voltage while engine is idling. It should be between 13.5 to 14.2 volts which means alternator is charging..
