Thats my favorite car af all time. How much?

Neat car, how did you get to drive it. What mileage did it have before you drove it 5 miles ;) I'd love to have it...They were the hottest thing when I was a kid.

400 or 403?

either way great looking car. i looked in to buying on before i got my GN. I really Like them

Anyone want a 70 Formula that needs a FULL resto? :D

A neighbor a few houses up has a mint 1980 TA, red w/red interior. It looks showroom new. Slow or not, it's a badass car :D. He (and me for that matter) goes out to Norwin Hills all the time during the summer for the Saturday car shows. You should head out there sometime next season. There's usually always at least 150 cars there when the weather picks up :)

Drop me a Email at Sleepervsix@yahoo.com I'll snap some pics and send them to you... the price would be 2350 and all the number match ..

I wont remember by this weekend unless you email me

Sorry for the poor pics. I can snap some with my good camera if anyone likes. The gas tank is still bare with USS steel markings on it!!

Here is the scoop on the car.
The original owner from here in Pgh PA bought three brand new 1979 10th anniversary T/A's in 1979 and had them flatbeded to his shop. All of the cars were kept in a climate controlled enviroment for the last 26 years with nothing done to them. They all have the original plastic on the seats, carpet, steering wheel and the floor mats in the trunk in plastic. The only thing done to the cars is they were state inspected. All of the cars were identical except two of the cars were 403 Olds motors with auto trans and the third was a 400 Pontiac with a 4 speed manual.

The current owner has bought two of the T/A's and is having this one gone over fluids, new battery etc. It has been sitting since new. This is a twin to the other that he purchased two years ago and has since sold. He bought the first car, a 403 Olds with an auto trans with only 6 miles on it. He sold it with 400 miles on it. The first car he bought was transported to a guy in Wisconsin by my company. He missed the first car so much so when the chance to buy this one came up he jumped at the chance. This car is a 400 Pontiac with a 4 speed trans. The car stickered for $10,000 and some change. I only drove it around the parking lot to warm it up. I did not want to put any miles on it. But boy was I nervous! I would die if something were to happen to it.

I do not know the where abouts of the third car from the collection. I know it was sold but to who? I don't know. I'm going to get to drive this one once summer is here. It's nothing like our cars, but I'm getting to drive a brand new car that when it was new I was only six years old. Hey I'll take it for a spin.

See the "t/a 6.6" on the shaker? Thats telling you its the higher hp (optional)
Pontiac 400 engine..

Yes your right. You can tell the different engines by the sticker on the shaker scoop.

T/A 6.6 = 400 Pontiac 4 speed trans
6.6 Litre = 403 Oldsmobile engine automatic trans

Pontiac Trans Am

Thanks for the info on the 6.6 What was the hp on these? Did Pontiac de-tune these cars. I've been looking for one for several years but finding a decent one is very difficult.. The 79 is in the time frame where there was a lot of de-tuning Just thought you guys might know

TIA

220 I believe for the Pontiac 400 TA 6.6
180-185 or so for the Olds 403 6.6 litre

Even in detuned state of things in those years, I believe the Pont 400 in the '79 TA was still GM's fastest that year even besting the heralded and mighty Corvette with the L82 350.

My sister had the 10th An TA w/ Olds 403. I had a '77 TA w/Pontiac 400. Hands down the Pontiac 400 was a stonger performer year for year between the two mills.

Not my favorite year, either (I like the 76-77 noses and tails better) but it's really cool to see something preserved like that. Thanks for sharing!

Jim

Did he make you buy brand new shoes, so when you got in, you for sure hade NO grime on them what so ever? ;)

That'd be a fun car to drive. Not the best looks, but still a great car.

A buddy of mine had that car back in high school, (Late 80's) Pontiac motor w/ a 4 speed. We had a lot of fun hammering that car - it was just a car back then:)

Nice car! I've always liked that body style. I like the 77-78 better, but that is probably the nicest one I've ever seen. I thought the anniversary cars came with a 301turbo?
