I have never played or even learned what the game pieces where until I was messing around one day and decided to try it. I really like playing the computer, you can undo your last move;)

I am on level 1, I guess that would be like playing another rookie in person. I was wondering if any of you played this and what you thought? How does it compare to actually playing a real person?

Titan Chess is a good beginner game and should keep you occupied for a while. I've never played it on level 1 but on the highest level it still makes some serious positional mistakes in the game. The chessmaster software is a really good mainstream program that you can pickup almost anywhere and is very customizable.

nerd alert:

I used to play on gameknot.com .. You can learn a lot of stuff on there and if you're feeling up to it, sign up and play people. You can play quick games, or set-ups via email where you can just let the game sit for an hour or a day.

My personal opinion is that I love playing in person. I don't like the computer. It is very impersonal. I would equate it to racing in a video game and real life. In real life you have a real opponent and it is a personal action. When online it is just mechanical moves. That is just my opinion.
Congrats on learing how to play. Make sure you learn castling, en passant, and if you touch a piece you have to move it. Good luck.

Its good for learning the basics!! When you play against a "live" opponent its requires some other skills! You learn how to read your opponent just like in poker.
