if i wanted to turn my v-8 limited into an intercooled v-6 car(which i do)is there any of you guys that have a 100% or darn near 100% take out engine assy.you got to figure,i have nothing so far.so i'll need alot.the more complete, the better.if it had the engine harness and such, even better.I NEED EVERYTHING. thanks,ed

Sorry, I could have helped if you were somewhere in IL.

A complete change over requires the following:

Complete engine wiring harness, in car harness (behind dashboard including fuse block), and rear harness (due to fuel pump wiring), plus the harness from the fuse block to the driver rear corner of the trunk.
Engine complete with all accessories (AC compressor, alternator power steering pump), manifolds, turbo, downpipe, intercooler, fuel lines in front of engine. sensors and ECM
Fuel system: including tank, fuel lines (supply and return, plus the vent) and brackets that hold them to the frame
Stout TH 200R4 transmission and cross member (yes different from TH200C)
8.5 differential as the standard Regal 7.5 differential will not last long.

There are so many other little parts needed for a clean conversion you might as well purchase a complete, wrecked car. Getting all the pieces individually will be very expensive

That's what I would say. I agree with Loyd 100%. People usually spend way too much money at the end unless you buy a wrecked complete car.

I will be more than glad to give you advice.... you can reach me at 630-965-1987.

Ed, not to distract you from your dreams, but I was once in your shoes....I had a non turbo Regal that I wanted to do the conversion to. The word I was told was, it would be so much work to do, that I'd be miles ahead with just selling what I had and buying a turbo car. So unless you have a lot of time, skill, another vehicle to drive in the meantime or your limited has sentimental value of some sorts.....just something to consider.

complete engine.

ok.this is gonna wind up being in the wrong area from this point on,lol.guys,im an ase master, career tech that now owns and operates my own full service repair shop.i have like 4 other cars, including a 85 cutlass that i just got into the 11's.(beautiful car too).i bought this 87 v-8 limited.so i was like ok this car is pretty clean for a ct car.i put a bunch of stuff on it that i already had from my cutlass build.then i put t-type wheels on it.then i was like,i want to get it painted.so i stripped the car to metal, repaired what needed it,stripped off the vinyl top, removed all chrome and clip posts, and sent it to my friends body shop for paint.going from blue to white.still there for a few more weeks.ive bought frt and rear fillers, aluminum bumper supports,t-type steering wheel,t-type seats in blue all 4 pieces,5 piece gn spoiler, ect.im way too far to stop.i love the build, the chance to touch every bolt, make it nice, paint it,whatever.now i want to turn it into a turbo car.i know i could have just probably bought one for what i'll have into this car.but this for me is the fun way to do it.AND.... i have a guy on here who has a running 87 gn that is coming apart.he said i can have everything i need to turn my car over to a turbo car and i am going to remove the drive train myself which will be a great aid with re-assembly.i dont know, crazy?:biggrin:and guys,i want to build this sucker to run real low 10's,maybe better.

Go for it, I have converted one taking most evenings for about 6 weeks, having accumulated all the parts from stripping a beat turbo Regal.

Got to love the finished project. with many of my friends amazed that it runs.

Well then Ed have at it. I give you props for tackling this one. Though I'd love to also do a turbo conversion but instead on a G body Regal station wagon. That would blow some peoples minds. But maybe in 30 years when I'm retired, the kids are grown and if there's any TR's being parted by then.

I got some gn1 aluminum heads some t+d roller rockers a rjc girdle and a rjc oil pan that i am going to be listing for sale and according to our conversation the other day you said you were looking for 10's these are the parts you need to get you there. Gonna be listing them in the forsale section later. Only reason i am selling is i found another car to buy and i need the cash

Turn car over?

Iam on my second Buick Regal swap, But i had every thing from a 86 G/N it was'nt bad to do the flip, but if you have to bi everthing go and bi a G/N or a T-type its not worth it Trust Me. I went from a 86 G/N to a 87 Regal and now to a 82 Buick Regal Ltd and the wiring in the 82 was a bit of a night mare.

swap

yep, your right.i bought a complete 87 gn piece of crap and raped it totally.i have everything i need now.now im in the early stages of putting together a 10 second propeller.
