I hate to break it to you, but MACs are PCs!!! Why do you think they can install XP on them. The OS really doesn't define it as a PC or not, the hardware does. PCs can be had with OSes other than Windows. I find it funny that you say not can't find a reason for anyone not to get a MAC. Perfhaps your years of surfing pron, running out of date anti-virus and genreal poor judgement when installing every software package under the sun, has led you to Apple? Those are the things that destroy computers faster than anything. I won't get into some big arguement on the misconception many people have about which OS is better, I know the answer to that already. Do a search on security web sites and see just how Apple machines are just a little more secure than the default install of XP. They don't suck as much....most of the time. My really important machines at home and work are running a highly secure installation of XP or FreeBSD (Apple started with FreeBSD code for current OSes).

Do you fit in the group of people that should be required to have a license before you can operate a computer? The Windows PC does have it's place, why do you think so many fortune 500 companies insist on running it. You just have to know how to talk to it.

Keep surfing your pron on that MAC and watch what happens, it's just as bad as when you had your Windows machine It will be a nice surprise for you...read...the MAC OS has many holes in it.

I guess your years of administering Windows software in your Fortune 500 companies has let you see too much yourself, to each his own. I have not used a Windows based machine with out-of-date anti-virus software nor used" general poor judgement when installing every software package under the sun". I kept current with the software updates from your highly-touted Microsoft God and the Godesses of anti-virus. I find it funny that you support Microsoft when they have never finished a piece of software before releasing it to the public. Their software is full of bugs that you dont want to admit. The reason that your Fortune 500 companies still use Microsoft is the fact that they are stuck with it due the hype they believed in the first place when designing their network and the cost to convert now is astronomical. Care to share just how many Windows machines are hacked daily in these Fortune 500 companies? Even the government is moving to Linux machines for security reasons. Memory management is a joke on a Microsoft machine as well. Microsoft should add a couple of keys to their current layout to include a " reboot to run this " and a " screw-it " Key. Ever wonder why there are so many Microsoft network administrators out there, including yourself? Answer... because the Fortune 500 companies as well as small to medium sized businesses have to hire them to keep the networks running.

I had given my opinion on MY experience with my PERSONAL MAC to someone who asked for advice on a PERSONAL computer, not a FOTUNE 500 million dollar computer that needs a full-time network administrator.

Macs dont suck and Winders isnt the worst thing ever. When Macs have even 1/2 the market share the complaints will even out, but for now they do not.

Mac's are safer from viruses, pr0n and otherwise, for now and maybe for all time. That's only because there aen't enough Mac"s in the world to make it worthwhile for them to write pr0n virus programs.
No fighting on my behalf please. I appreciate everybody's comments, recommendations, counsel, call it whatever, but not everybody sees everything the same. Thank for the input.

Macs are great if you are into graphics and such. If you are not heavy into graphics why spend the extra money? Also a PC is much easier and cheaper to upgrade...

I wouldnt buy a Sony, stick with Dell!

I still haven't found a "hole" yet in the Mac OS like you say. ...So like it or not, Macs rule!

I live on the security side of the IT world. You need to keep your MAC patched just like your windows box. Be aware that the worst exploit for macs this year came out of porn sites that host videos, you donwload and view the video... boom, you no longer have a secure mac. It becomes a drone in a sea of mac spam bots . Right now the majority of malicious content is geared towards the microsoft OS, that is changing slowly..Here is proof of the need for patching on the apple side of things.
