I asked this same question a while back and I never got around to doing anything but the time has come again and I am ready to put some money into my car sooooo...

I am currently running an unopened stock block with a TA49, 50lbers and a 3200s tall 9.5in Vigilante and im toying with the notion of stepping up to the plate with the big boys. You can see what other mods I have in my sig. I would love to get my hands on a DUAL BB as I keep hearing all these great things bout em.

I was just wondering what is the biggest turbo I could go with (without waiting an hour for it to spool) or what you guys think would be the best for my combo. ****Please don't limit it to my injectors as I will step those up if need be.... I don't plan on opening up the heads but I am not ruling it out***

My car is driven on the street

6466 is a good choice, quick spooling and more than enuff power for your needs. May want to consider 72lb or bigger injectors and a fuel pump upgrade depending on your goal

If you're staying with the stock cylinder heads I would consider other modifications before you spend money on a turbo unless you plan on turning the boost up into the low 30s

I am open to other mods/upgrades but if I can get away without doing so all the better. I would like to see how fast I can get the car to go on stock heads.

So if it makes sense to upgrade from the PTE-IC to lets say the RJC front mount, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, etc and notice a big difference then I will do so.

what is your goal with the car?? That may make it easier to steer you in the right direction

Your car should be in the mid-low 11's as it is. Not much more you can do, but tune it better if your not running that ET.
Next step is where the wallet comes out to play.

I appreciate the responses. I like being able to whoop on all the local V8s and such and then when they ask about the Mods I get to tell them its all bolt ons and an UNOPENED ENGINE on a little V6.

I would like to get as much power out of the unopened heads as I can and have the best COMBINATION possible if that makes sense?

a 49 turbo and a stock motor with the right combo and tune can really be tough to beat on the street and run low 11's at around 119mph at the track.you need to set the car up to leave and 60ft/330 well.how fast is the car now?does it 60ft in the 1.5's?if you can't answer these questions or have a real weak 60ft you should work the combo more.

You will need the best fuel possible and a really good converter to work with high boost and low rpm.

I had your same combo. I upgraded to a 6152 turbo and 60lb injectors, nothing else, and went from running mid 12's to high 11's, maybe a 50HP increase. However, the engine still ran out of steam by 4500 RPM.

My next upgrade was 210/215 roller cam and ported iron heads. This woke the motor up big time, and it pulled hard until 6,000 RPM. It is now capable of low 11s even high 10s if everything is working well.

If you can afford to do turbo/cam/heads at the same time you will reap the most benefit. However, simply upgrading injector and turbos will buy you some power, but you just won't be using their full potential. Some people frown upon that, some people don't care. It's whatever you want to do. I just wanted to share my actual experience and outcome with you.

I'd suggest a 6262....only bc I have one and it works well. Mine is a DBB like you're wanting and it spooled pretty good actually with a stock converter and now it spools very quick with the 9.5 NLU I got from Dusty.

BUT, like everyone has already said, if you are not willing to push the boost into the low 30's there really is no need. I run mine at the track to about 30~31lbs and my best time is a 11.04 @ 120. I would have clicked off a 10.xx on my last pass but my actuator popped off the turbo past half track. It was my best 60' 1.46, my best 1/8 mile time and mph, 6.95 @ 99, ended up coasting to a 11.3 @ 100.

I know what you mean about telling people about whats done or not really done to your car but for me when the funds come.....I'm going with ported heads and a roller.

Guys I really appreciate all the feedback, keep it coming....honestly I was hoping somebody would say 6776 :).......I'm not really planning on going to the track but once in a while. I know the TA-49 is a great street turbo but I am developing a Napoleon complex in regards to turbos lol.

In the future I will probably go with some champions, etc. but right now I would like to go bigger turbo, if need be bigger injectors if not great. Part of me wants a big ass RJC front mount....probably don't need it but Napoleon lol

You clicked of a 11.04 with a 6262 @30 lbs. boost with stock heads?

If youte looking to.upgrade do a te44 and a alky kit. That will be fun.

Yes sir. It might have actually been 31~32 psi by the end of the track. I think my next pass would have been a 10.9x if the actuator didnt come off after the 1/8 mile, ended up coasting to a 11.3 @ 100, but I had my best ever 60' and 1/8 time, 1.47 and 6.95 if I remember right.

Were your stock heads ported at all?

Wow impressive numbers, hope I can pull the same times. What trans/converter? If you don't mind me asking...

Ran 11.1 with a stock converter that was still in good shape. It was a struggle though to build any kind of boost at the line, most I ever got was 3-4 lbs standing on the brake pedal. Ran the 11.04 with a 9.5 NLU from Dusty. Car drives almost stock but it lights the turbo much easier now. I can now build boost at the line much much easier.

Trans is stock other than a CK Perf. shift kit, billet servo and a deep pan.

*edit* Thank you by the way. Also, the conditions were almost ideal, it was around 60* out with almost no humidity.
