hey guys, new to the forum tonight and love my new old gn! but im having a problom with it already, my converter goes in to lock up in first gear and wont unlock even when it shifts and when coming to a complete stop it stays llcked up almost until it stalls then un locks, but it doesnt do it all the time. i did notice that when it does it it had a slight hitch in the motor, is the trans computer controlled at all or just a kick down cable? please help thanks

That's not a "kick down" cable. It is a throttle valve or tv cable and it regulates the trans internal pressure in relation to the throttle angle. Very important that it is hooked up and functioning correctly.

As far as the tc locking up, unplug the electrical connector on the side of the trans to see if the symptoms go away. If not it isn't the lock up solenoid. If it goes away time to drop the pan and replace that solenoid.

Let us know how it works out.

What he said. Or the tcc solenoid needs to be replaced. Which is easy.

So what about the funny idle at the same time? Drove to work today and it drove fine, no trans issues

I had a funny idle/off idle problem intermittently and my MAF finally died. I'm thinking that was my problem the whole time. My be worth checking out.

It also doesn't start very good sometimes. I figured it was injectors cuz after I shut it off if you wait about 30 min. The fuel gauge on the rail drops off to zero so I have a new set of injectors and a chip on order. I should have today

The only thing the computer controls on the trans is the lock up solenoid. That is either on or off so it isn't much. The tv controls much more by varying the trans pressure in relation to the throttle angle.

If your TCC solenoid is bad it will usually act up just like your explaining after it gets warmed up..

The pressure drop is from a checkball in your fuel system. The injectors and chip will not change this symptom. Not anything to worry about anyway as long as it comes up at key on.

You can usually make them start better by tweaking the cam sensor a few degrees either direction. Assuming everything else is working properly.

It is mostly when it gets hot. Yes. Thanks bud. Good info! Now. The starting issue, I figured I either had a bad injector meaning down or a bad regulator, where is said check ball located?

The checkball is in the pump itself. No sense worrying about it.
