Went out for a test run last night. Car is slow on the spool due to low timing (23*/21*) and being super fat on fuel but ran 22 psi in first gear. Shifted at 5900 and some change and the RPM dropped to 4900 and some change. Boost went up to 25-26 and slowly tapered off back to 23-22psi and then I shifted it again at 5700 and some change and saw another 900-1000 RPM drop. Had to stop there. That had me at around 80mph and just wanted to check the shift points and make sure the 200r4 was going into gear the way it should.

So here are my questions:
1. Is the RPM drop at that shift point good, or should the shift point change?
2. I plan to add much more boost:eek:, but, is there a back pressure problem causing the boost to fall so slowly.
3. When I go to up the boost, will the rpm drop decrease at the same shift point? How much of a drop do you want to try to maintain?

I have a PL to post when I get home but would like to get the info rolling in.

That's a good RPM drop on the shifts but that all depends on the power band of you car. What's your combo , what cam & converter are you using, we need more info and a peek at the PL log .

800-1000 drop is good.

The rpm drop may decrease slightly with more boost but it shouldn't change a huge amount.

If you really are way rich the egt's will be low and that will help make the boost drift with rpm in each gear and at the shifts when the load suddenly changes. Get the fueling right and the boost where you want it and it should be much more stable.

Thanks for the replies so far here is the log...
as far as the boost i do think your right. I have not touched the wastegate, but is richer than my last log that exposed a trans issue. (kilborn422)
