Nice thread find. Lots of "there simple to modify" and "you just have to turn up the boost" posts, which I guess is kinda true. I like the GTO's, but I like the Buicks better. The GTO's also are tune-able to be very bad ass. People underestimate older looking cars. It's cool that our stuff can still compete and compete very well. A twin turbo GTO would be hellacious!!

Come on one of those guys listed a camera mount as a Mod. Kind of like our local ricer clubs

20 plus years later and some people still don't have a clue.....

Quote: 1) Sorry but you do know you will ALWAYS get more looks with that Audi R8?? than a GN. Not only that but to build a GN to have top end low end and mid end power, you're spending a lot. Not only that, but pull up to a club, chicks would run straight to you in that vs a "wasnt that in fast n the furious?" lawls~ see what I am saying?

Actually she is right. Gn's are to impress your buddies and the high $ daily driver luxury car is for the ladies

It is interesting to hear what other people are saying on some of these other car forums.

I recently came across this post on another forum:

The first initial post isn't much of a story but you have to read some of the comments that followed. I enjoyed reading them and it also made me realize that I have to stop convincing myself that our GNs can maintain even the slightest "sleeper" status. Most people, at least amongst car guys, are informed and wary.

And window tint, brake caliper paint....................who puts that in there sig?

I liked how a couple of the guys keep saying turbos  when will they learn?

Was going to post a link to one of the local clubs but ti's a reported attack site now.

Here's a tip for my ricer friends. If it can be installed in 10 minutes with a screwdriver it's not a mod.

Yep, been married for 20 years and the wife still hates the "T" (she borrowed it one day to go garage saleing about 12 years ago and seriously scared herself). Hasn't driven it since and on me to sell it anytime I talk about it. She likes to drive the Stage 1 though.

My Triple Black 61 Corvette was the best chick magnet ever bar none (on many occasions came back to find some girl sitting in it asking me to take her for a ride). Stop for gas or go into a convenience store and the girl behind the counter would always say "sure is a nice day for a drive in that car". The candy red Harley FLHS was second (phone number with note to call her many times on the seat). Never have gone in for high dollar foreign cars though so I don't know how well they do as chick magnets. I've never been a yuppie.

I guess I better stop modding my car while I'm still ahead:

The problem with these motors, though, is that they can tear themselves apart once you start upping the boost and knocking on the 11s. Gaskets, seals, etc... nothing major, but enough to make an oily and/or smoky mess.

Thats the main reason you dont see many on the road any more. Squeezing that many horses out of that small a motor really takes a toll on it. But if you happen to see one in real good shape watch out.

Oh, and there's more than 547 GNX's made c'mon guys....

actually guys the GNX is one badass car. They last for a long time and you do see them a lot in the motor city. Wait till woodward cause there is like 50,000,000,000,000 of them and they are all fast as hell!!!

Well that just increases my chances of owning a GNX.

I'm involved in that thread. They have a few misconceptions about these cars (which I'm trying to correct), but all in all they have a lot of respect for them.

This post by Captain Obvious was quote worthy

Thank god the majority of the ones we may encounter on the daily drive aren't NEW.

Man, that Marauder posting is 6 ½ years old. It’s definitely entertaining to read though.

I especially like the post by the guy that sold his 87 GN and missed it so much that he bought a Marauder. Come on, what does a GN and Marauder have in common? Some black paint and 4 wheels?
