FWIW:
I used the little plastic one from my alky setup & put it in front of the battery horizontally,
I don't know the dimensions of the other units you're looking at, so it might not fit.

That won't work for me but thanks for the idea. That real estate is taken up already..
 
I put a smaill brass pipe nipple in the washer reservior and use that. I dont drive cross country or in the winter so little need for the WSW fluid.
 
It's just a catch can. If the car has a 160 stat and proper cooling nothing should be in the bottle.
Cars in the 60's didn't come with an overflow. They just filled to 1/2 inch below cap. Example a 1967 Camaro

The reason for one is tracks require one to be at least 16 ounces. So in case a little water does spit out, it doesn't do it on the track surface.

The billet ones used on street rods are neat.

Coolant Tank

I have a polished stainless steel one mounted to the right side of my stock fan shroud.

After playing around I found that a second washer bottle will fit perfectly in the area behind the stock one. Holes line up and all. Just need a 1"collar shim to make it line up. I may go that route as it is simple. I like the aluminum reserviors but can't seem to find a comfy home for any of the ones I like under the hood.
 
It looks like the washer bottle will mount in the un-used holes in the fender with a longer bolt and a collar shim. See pics. I think I will go this route. Thanks to 87gta-turbo for the idea of using the washer bottle.

Where can I find a nipple I can drill into the tank that will seal from the inside?

Any concerns with having a tank of highly flammable fluid mounted in the engine compartment? A frontal impact could prove to be catastrophic!

I have been thinking about this, and am wondering what other options are available. I considered a trunk mounted tank, but haven't put enough thought into it to come up with something I like, yet. Maybe something in the back under the car with a fill tube going to... somewhere? I dunno.

Scott, I've used the washer resevoir on several installs, there's no need to drill/tap or otherwise install a nipple, just run the hose right to the existing cap.

As far as frontal impact with an ALKY kit, I recently experienced the mother of all frontal impacts with a full ALKY tank, according to an eyewitness there was a flash upon impact which I assume was the ALKY hitting my hot exhaust but it went out as fast as it ignited. If you've seen the Youtube video of my wreck, there's a guy towards the end that talks about it.
 
yeah...I used my washer reservoir as well. I used line to the stock port on it...then poked a vent hole in the cap. Works fine.
 
i used the washer reservoir myself. only issue i had was getting the fluid to return to the radiator

I bought a brass nipple from the hardware store I think I used 1/4 NPT and drilled the hole smaller than needed so the threads were water tight did put a little sealant on them for insurance.
 
Sweet!I will find one that works and seal it up. Would prefer to have hose in botton of bottle, easier to keep pipe full of fluid, easier to return to radiator. Bought 2 bottles in case I fudge one up.

That is gone now but was for a blue neon light I use to have under the front of the car. Looked pretty cool at night.
