Is there copper header gaskets that will work with the stock 84 heads on my GN? They look the same in the picture in the catolog, but I have heard that they will only work with the Champion aluminium heads. I know that I am getting sick of changing header gaskets. Will the ones from Applied Technologies work?

Thanks

I don't run header gaskets and neither did the factory. If you must use them, copper is the way to go. The ones for the champion heads should work. I know Champion heads work with stock headers.

i had bought the headers that poston sells for my 85
i also got my copper gaskets thru them as well

they bolted right up
the headers i had bought had the exact same bolt pattern as the stockers
so they gaskets should be universal for both of them

i think they go for like 30 sum dollars though, for the pair

you'll especially get a kick out of doing the passenger side,

Well despite what the ad I read says..........I talked to a lady at ATR today and she says theirs won't work with stock headers( I need a pair too). I don't understand how the ports on the aftermarket headers could be so diffrent than the ports on the heads but they make the stuff so I'm takin her word for it. I know SCE makes copper header gaskets for the GN but haven't found any info on em. The lady at ATR suggested fel-pro gaskets.........said they work wonderfully :p

Yeah I know what you mean about the Fel Pro gaskets, they make good gaskets for anything else. I have changed both sides 3 times in the last 2 years and they are leaking again!!
I won't do it again until I have the copper ones!!!

Thanks

Out of curiosity, have you tried it with no gaskets? I ran gaskets one time when I didn't know better and the first time I hit boost I blew one out. It sounded like a lawnmower and wouldn't build boost until second gear. I went gasketless and it was fine for years.

PT&E recommends Fel-Pro 1400's. Can get them at any local dealer. I have good results with them. Torque your header bolts to 25 ft pds and put a little loc tite on them.

I use the fel pro 1400's and have no problems I have also re-used them a couple times.
