im very computer literate this looks like some old connection im guessing it was installed to bypass a scantron and use a diffrent system but i have no clue what for any ideas or advice would be helpfull

thanks again

i found it under the seat didnt know it was there. lol

Looks like it was to use a laptop and run TurboLink or something similar. That is definitely a standard connection for a computer from late 90s and older.

Where does the cord go? If it goes to the aldl then it's probably a turbolink cable, or maybe there is a directscan hid up in your dash...no way to know without following it.

after research and attempts to see where it goes, it looks as thought ig goes behind the radio heres the best picture i have

lol well it isnt a gnx, so it has to be for something else, i was trying to find tubolink version 4 for sale but couldnt find it anywhere i have a bunch of older laptop that would easiely connect to it. im gonna try to figure out what its for

Look behind the glovebox, pull the tab so it swings down. There is probably a Direct Scan box back there.

okay john i pulled it the bottom part out and htis was behind the glove box. what exactly do i do with this now lol

yeah its connected to one side of the box and the otherside looks to have a oldschool IDE cabel connected to it. now i just have to figure out how to access this, my guess is ill need a adapter to usb plug it in to one of my laptops get the coorect program and i should be able to change settings on the car

This IDE cable goes to your ECM behind the kickpanel. DirectScan is info only, no programming. But it's good stuff.

You cannot adapt a parallel cable to USB. The only thing those parallel to USB cables work for is printers. You need a computer with a parallel port. Just figured I'd save you the effort of finding that out after buying a cable.

You'll need a laptop with a parallel printer port, and WIN98 or older operating system, because Direct Scan is a DOS program.
