Does it really cost $49.00 for a pan gasket and filter kit from GM or am I just getting ripped off? and ya can't even buy just the filter. What gives?
What is a good alternative or is eveyone paying the price?

WOW

PAUL:eek:

Good post !!

I used to pay $20 for a tranny kit....gasket and filter from Napa.

Then one time I just needed a gasket as the filter was only one week old so I went to a local tranny shop and he sold me a gasket for $8.00 and I was happy.

Later I went to an actual tranny parts supply place and bought 4 gaskets for $5.00. Damn local guy.

Anyway, next time I'm going to see how much a filter is at that tranny parts supply place....betcha it's only around $5.00.

I bought an 8657387 pan gasket for my 200-4r from GM for
$4.55 + sales tax. $49.00 for a filter kit does seem a little high, doesn't it?

So what is the P/N for just the filter? I was told the filter/gasket only came as a kit. Thanks

paul

The warehouse tranny parts catalog I have gives 8634223 as the OEM part # for a 200-4r filter. I don't have a price list. It was
not found on www.gmpartdirect.com, either. :( I hope this helps.
