Does any one happen to know the casting number for a 86/87 turbo crank ????

David Morgan

87 Turbo T
42.5# injectors, TE44, Esp front mount, ATR dp and external waste gate

You can't go by casting #...You have to visually check for the rolled fillets...Personally, I have a turbo crank with casting #229 and another turbo crank with casting #877...

And again, casting # means NOTHING ...You have to visually check for the rolled fillets...

thanks for the info ... was looking into buying a reman long block ... company gave me a list of casting numbers for the parts it would be using. they told me a 229 crank ... looks like I need to ask them if it is a rolled fillet crank

David

They will probably not even know the difference...I had to tell one of the local machine shops what to look for when they looked around in the pile of 3.8L cranks they had to see if they had a turbo crank in there...

So what exactly did you tell them to look for?

I'd like to know how to ID a rolled fillet crank from a non-rolled fillet crank.

Thanks

So look for the grooves on the outer edge of the bearing mating surface on the mains as well as the rod journals?

Sorry for so many questions.
