Hello,
My engine has about 20K on it from when it was rebuilt. I am in the process of installing a rebuilt tranny and I checked the thrust play of the crankshaft. It measures about .015-.016" and I was told the spec. is .003-.009. Is .015 too much? If so can I just replace the thrust bearing?
Thanks,
Dan

It would really depend on if the crankshaft has any thrust surface wear...You may only have thrust bearing wear...BUT, you need to find out why it did it...Did you check your torque converter for ballooning??? You could change out the mains and check for thrust endplay again...

Again, though, if you are planning on re-using your torque converter, have it checked out for ballooning...There is a chance that your converter ballooned and took out your thrust bearing and possible sent a bunch of garbage through your tranny, which is probably why you are rebuilding the tranny now...
