Geez where do I start....
My wife's dad has been having some health problems & we just found out it has taken a SERIOUS turn for the worse. He was diagnosed with a benign cyst on his liver back in June which was inoperable because it was twisted up in some of the major veins supplying blood to the liver. SOOooo they treated it with low level radiation in an attempt to halt it's growth... or so they said. Niki's dad wasn't getting any better (major pain & started getting jaundiced the last few days) so he went back for a second opinion. Turns out that supposedly benign cyst has continued to grow despite the radiation treatment he went through AND they found several swollen lymph nodes in the area, a spot on his spine AND spots in his lungs. My wife is on the brink of totally losing over this & her dad has seemingly given up before he finds out what his treatment options are.
And just to continue the fun.....
I lost my job yesterday (petrochem inspection lab) & am at a loss as to what I should do... I HATE the crappy hours (rotating days/graveyards is the norm) & good 'ol boy management style of this field (I REFUSE to be brown-noser / boot-licker which seems to be the ONLY way you get ahead in that industry!) Problem is I am not really qualified for anything else that would pay anything near the same rate and I actually do still enjoy the actual work (analysis / training / instrument maintenance) part of it. I'd really like to go back to school & finish my Occupational Health & Safety degree but the jobs that offer the straight days hours I would need to do this are few & far between AND would be a significant pay cut (need to see ~30K a year to cover bills/living expenses) On top of this I just got married ~6 months ago, bought a house & am having to cover the bills at my old house while we get it ready to sell.
Just about ready to hit something HARD
