Sorry to hear about your car. I rear ended someone in my TTYPE and & the damage was probably about the same but on the driver side.

Bad news... I bent my frame. Since it was my fault, I ended paying to get the car fix. The frame was straighten & it drives straight but in my mind, it's still bent!!! I'm looking for a good donor frame!!

good luck... and happy holidays

battery didn't split, it just got pushed back. I have no idea how the battery survived, it was one of the things hit first and hardest. anyway the battery probably isn't actually any good but at least it didn't spew acid on fancy chrome parts.

jastrckl The car is defintely fixable. Plenty of places to score some G-body parts around here.

Let me know if you need any help, I might be able to locate parts for you locally as well as some other local guys BUICKTR and our resident go fast guy TURBOTR aka Todd King. Todd is the man if you ever decide to go fast. And he has done wonders with close to stock setups.

Jesse and Johnny - I didn't realize that the post was edited, I was wondering as well what all of the fuss was about. Thanks Jesse for clearing that up.

I have been in Texas all of my life. I did however live in Tennesse for 1 year. The people were great but exactly what jastrckl
said a little close minded. But that is their culture there.

The good thing I like about this board is that we have a lot of open-minded people here who like to help and they come from many different countries, states, etc.
In talking with many many car people, it amazing how many comment on the fact that the Buick family in particular are great when it comes to helping each other other. ;)

Let us know how the car deal shakes out. We will be here to help you put it back together.:D

My friend has an 85 Regal (Plain Jane) that would be a perfect donor car. The car has sat in storage for years and the front clip is in VGC. Flat hood, but you could find a turbo hood or buy a glass one.

The car is in Michigan. I'll bet he'd sell the parts you need fairly cheap. Email me if you are interested.

Ouch.

I think that one is a goner. Definitely repairable, but the ins. company will probably total it. Mine wasn't nearly that bad when it was totaled in '97 - when book value was a lot higher. It had 84k miles on it when it was stolen and totaled. According to the insurance report, damage was $7,100. Book value was $8,900 which they paid to the then-owner of the car.

They had written a bunch of unneccesary stuff up, IMO. The thieves had pried the radio out and deformed the dash a bit. I beat it back into shape with a rubber mallet. You can't tell it was ever damaged. They wrote up a new dash and the labor associated with R&R. There was lots of stuff like that in the damage report.

Pics of the car in its wrecked condition are on my site.

I bought it and repaired it for around $5,600 total (including the cost of my uncle picking it up at auction, transporting it, etc.). Probably doesn't include a lot of little stuff I got, but that $ figure represented the bulk of it. So, if they do total it you could probably buy it back pretty cheap and fix it. It will always be a rebuilt total, though.

Good luck.

Oh yeah - on the racist thing. I'd make him change the URL, too. Doesn't it say "comic spics"? ;) Or maybe comics pics. I'm so stupid that I didn't even notice the capitalization on the initial post....

jastrckl,

I'm a bit confussed.
Do you have collision coverage? If you do not, I'm sorry to say, but you are out of luck.
Uninsured motorist coverage is for your injuries and has nothing to do pertaining to the coverage for your vehicle.
Check your policy to find out if you have collision coverage.
Good luck.

Nick

LMAO....

Man gets slammed as being a racist and then people start stero typing Tenn people as being racist.

In my experince the first one to yell racist has been the racist.

Sorry about your car man....I would at least do a transplant into something else.

lol @ "comic spics". a friend of mine from irc named comic_1 is hosting the pics for me, and the s at the end of comic is POSSESSIVE. comic's pics. you just can't have apostrophes in url's. sorry for any yet -further- confusion.

oh and about the uninsured motorists stuff, yes, normally uninsured motorist only covers things like property damage that you do to someone's fence for example if an uninsured motorists knocks your car into it, and bodily damage, etc. usaa's coverage is that way. mine is w/ one of the geico affiliated insurance companies, already talked to a rep over the phone that says they should be able to cover it if they get a copy of the police report and can prove the other guy had no insurance. shouldn't be too tough I hope.

Man, I am sorry about your car. But I can relate--you won't like what I have to say. I got royally screwed like no other by the ins. co. My T caught on fire in 2000, two weeks after I bought it for $8,000. It was in perfect condition with 60,000 miles except the paint was a little faided which I buffed to a shine. The fire caused some damage to plastic parts under the hood(wiring harnesses, inner fender well, misc. parts---looked really bad) and took a little paint off the hood and pass. side fender. It really just needed to be cleaned up, some plastic parts replaced, and repainted.
The isurance co. totalled the car and gave me $4,000. I did buy it back but what they paid me was totally unacceptable. Buying it back was well worth it even if you make it a strictly race car.
If you need a body/paint man I know a guy in Conroe Texas, just north of Houston. Earl is definately the guy to talk to. All he does is turbo buicks. I went to him with my car. It would definately be worth hauling your car that far (at least it is still in the state). He will make your car a show winner.

PM me if you want his number, I'll have to find it, I also have a few before and after pics of my car.

.38 special - How long has Earl been around?? I might be mistaken but I believe I have also heard of Him. Great work from what I hear. If he is as good as his reputation states, it would be worth every penny.

Earl (E.J.) has been around for a long time. I've only been on the scene for about 3 years. He's been around alot longer than that, so I really don't know. But he does do very good work, worth every penny. I believe he charges like 3 grand for a show quality black paint job--doing all of the body work. The car will look utterely flawless. The most beautiful thing you will ever see. And we all know that a black show paint job is usually rediculoussly expensive since black shows all of the flaws in the body. I've never heard one negative word about him. He's a good guy and he knows his stuff about restoring and making these cars go fast.

Yep, that's Him. I was at the Autorama in Houston 2 years ago. Saw a couple of cars there with His name on the body work credits.

jastrckl,
Dude. That is rough. Hope you are all right.
If it isn't a rust bucket, save it. :) If it is a rust bucket, restore it! ;)

Time to be one of the jackals: If you need anything lemme know, I have a bunch of the larger parts you are going to need. michael_lis@sympatico.ca

Why worry if the frame is bent a little bit? Hell when the frame was made it was smashed in a press that bent the flat steel into 90 degree angles, and was then welded together.

Right?

No big deal, then, to take an inch of 'bend' out of a frame that is 12 feet long. Heck, the steel was stressed 1.000 more than that when it was made!

I got 68,00 out of my GN when a lady ran a red light and took out the entire right side, along with the front bumper. I came out of it just about dead even moneywise, with a new paint job, and a brand new powdercoated front bumper.

(thanks to Brian Weaver for the excellent bumper)

UPDATE

Dad got a hold of the shop it's at, they said insurance company wants to total it out after the adjuster saw the car.
