So I wanna go a different route with my exhaust. I am gonna do a single 3" all the way back. Although the duals out the back look great.....I think I am gonna have mine exit before the passenger rear tire. Has anyone tried this? Any thoughts / problems you can think of ? Let me know!!

The answer is you are about to piss away your cash resources very fast. The only way to increase performance on the exhaust side with a TA33C is:

1. Integrated 2 1/2 downpipe- no 2 inch turbo elbow
2. Remove CAT with test pipe or gut it
2. Replace the entire exhaust with a 2 1/2 setup.
3. Postons passenger side exhaust header.

Based on your post- All exhaust upgrades are are waste of money unless you eliminate the turbo elbow. The output of the TA33C is 2 inches. Been there. Done it. Proved today. Call with questions. Send me a PM and I will give my number. Brad

P.S A two inch turbo elbow with a five foot downpipe and exhaust means you have a 2 inch exhaust. Simple pipline mechanics.

I think he has eliminate those restriction. He has Leeo's old header and downpipe he bought from Ms. Jamie (TURBO6X2). I can tell you if you do go with a 3" exhaust, it will be raspy and unique. I would recommend Magnaflow 3". If you have the cash, check SUMMIT. They have a 2 1/2" stainless steel exhaust system by PYPES for $359. This is a Cat Back system. You can find a Stainless Cat pipe and then forget about the exhaust for a LONG TIME.....

Cwmccray is right Brad, I have Lee's old downpipe, headers, up pipe and crossover w/ external wastegate. I understand about the turbo elbow, that is long gone. I have the flange that attaches to the end of the downpipe welded to a 36" x 3"diameter section of aluminized steel ( no cat ). I plan on dropping either a magnaflow or borla sportsman 3" (single inlet, single outlet) at the end of that section of pipe. From there I was gonna have a bend turned out right in front of the passenger rear tire. I was gonna finish it up with a low profile tip that hugs close to the bottom of the car. My question was really just regarding the placement of the tip ie: would that tire wear more due to exhaust flowing by it @ highway speeds......or any other problems that the members who have tried this have encountered.

With the exhaust in front of the back tire you might run into some ground clearance issues.

I stand corrected and you are way ahead of the game. Keep us posted. Brad

In order to minimize clearance issues, you need to follow the driveshaft. This leaves no room for a standard muffler. You can go with a muffler in place of the cat, or keep the cat and go no muffler (which is what I did). Loud, but I like it. There are options for internal muffler baffles or vortex cones for some sound reduction. ;)

Thanks

Grumpy & TChrgd

Thanks for those pics, that is exactly what I am looking into doing. I think I will have to put at least a shorty muffler onto the pipe. Gotta young son that I don't want to have to wear earplugs on our weekend trips.

409 STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST FOR UNDER $380.00......
AVAILABLE FROM SUMMIT AND PYPES.....
