Custom paint shop in SE Michigan?

Anyone know a GOOD, CUSTOM auto painter in Michigan? I need some paint work done on my 98 GS, and standard issue body shops like autometric and collex won't block sand in between coats, to decrease orange peel. They say they're a "production paint only shop, and aren't equipped to make paint look oem." They only prime, spray and clear" cars. I was actually kinda taken back, by the enthusiasm they had in not being able to make a car look good lol. He told me to find a custom paint shop. But besides all the ghetto mexican shops on the SW side, I don't ever recall seeing a professional custom painter around here.
Anyone have one in their rolodex?

There is so much wrong with what you just typed. You don't sand in between coats to decrease orange peel. You prime, block sand, seal if needed, base, clear. At this point it should like an OEM finish, hit the dirt nibs and buff. If a flat show quality paint job is desired, you block with 800 to 1000, then 1500, some use 2000, 2500, then buff. The clear gets the peel, and a good painter duplicates the factory finish right out of the booth. Don't go into a shop acting like you know more than they do, and you might not get run out of there.

Lol. This is what THEY told me. I have no clue on how paint goes on there junior. So then I asked them, how does the factory get nice paint jobs? He said because the amount of paint that comes out of a robot, is always neat, and consistant. Not really able to be reproduced by a human. The only way a human can match a factory finish, is by block sanding. So then I asked if they did that, and he said no. Then I asked him, what it was I needed, to make my rear trunk lid look perfect, and he said a custom auto body shop...

Go to well knowen body shop that work with I.N.S company .most of them have good painter.
