Hey guys, I took my GN out last night for a short cruize. It ran fine but then after it warmed up it starting cutting out at WOT. It was a hot humid night. The only mods to the car is an THDP and ATR stainless exhaust, adjustable wastegate, and possibly a chip ( the previous owner told me she thought the chip was changed). Anyways, this has happened to me before but mostly on hot days. Unless Im not at wide open throttle, it runs fine. Is this detination, fuel starvation, not high enough octane gas, bad sensor somewhere? It will accelerate just fine and then when I punch it, it will sputter a little and then pop, then its goes back to running fine untill I punch it again. Any ideas? Thanks ----Jeremy

Change fuel filter recently? Hows FP under boost? Fuel pump upgraded and hotwired?

Yeah, actually I did change the filter about 600 miles ago. You think it is a fuel issue though? I had that feeling too but I just dont want to stray that far away from stock. I suppose I really have no choice though huh? Thanks for your response by the way!! -----Jeremy

Post up some numbers on what the car is doing...boost setting,f.p. reading etc. Sounds like fuel starvation for the amount of boost. Go through the basics from gn/ttype.com or vortexbuicks.com to make sure you haven't overlooked the obvious.

Ok, I dont have a Scanmaster but Im pretty sure I could borrow one. I have been looking for a fuel pump and fuel regulator even thoough its not stock!! Oh well, Id rather run well. Any ideas on a good fuel pump and regulator. I dont need to go crazy. I know I can get a 233 adjustable regulator that looks stock!! Thanks for the help!!! ----Jeremy

Go to Fullthrottlespeed.com (or any other vendor here) for the adjustable regulator, fuel pump, and hotwire kit. At least you will be upgrading a weak spot on the car. A few hundred spent now is better than several hundred later in head gasket replacement. Ohm out your coils and check plug wires and grounds while you are at it. Get some type of scan tool to insure basic settings and a f.p. gauge. You may be in need of a modern chip from turbotweak.com if the chip is an older one such as I have in mine. Stay ouy of the throttle till things are fixed.

I had some what the same problem. It would sit at idle fine and accel ok untill I got to about 3200rpm and then it would hesitate and pop. My problem was the crank angle sensor was out of adjustment. I adjusted and it ran fine after that.

Alright, thanks guys!! Is there a way to find out if I have any bad sensors? I do not have any dummy lights that come on. Will a scanmaster be able to tell you what sensors are bad or out of line? I have an idle problem also. It seems to almost die and then compensates over and over until the car is warmed up. After its warm, it seems to idle fine. Also after leaving a car show the other day, I noticed that when I turned the vent on, the car wanted to speed up and pull against the brakes. This happened while I was idling out of the show. Any ideas on that?? Thanks again!!!! -----Jeremy

What exactly does a hotwire kit do for the fuel pump and what fuel pump would you guys advise, walboro 340?

have you adjusted the Iac. go throught the basics first..get a scan tool...check tps voltage iac tap on the maf check all your intercooler hoses to make sure all is tight. With the idle problem at the car show was the ac on. the car will increase/decrease rpm as the ac compressor lkicks on and off.

Im not sure if the ac was on at the car show. What are the basic settings for the IAC and the TPS. I have heard the TPS settings should be somewhere between .42 and .49. Is this correct?

Ok, thank you for the help!! I will hop over to gnttype and check that out for sure. I really appreciate your help guys!! These car are so difficult sometimes!!! ----Jeremy
