For the last couple months Ive been reaquainted with the dreadfull clicking/tapping noises of an exhaust leak that I thought I had once and for all put to rest at the beginning of this year. Of course with these cars the noise, as annoying as it may be, is the least of the worries. O2s were off (lower), BLMs were off (higher), and I was getting KR much, much easier. I really noticed the effects of this when I was at the track in October and ran the time in the sig. And I thought the only problem I had was that I never lock the convertor
.
I blamed it on the uppipe. Come to find out today that no matter how I played around with it, I could not get rid of the sound. Took the uppipe and top half of the DP off, and there it was. Very BIG cracks around both sides of the weld on the #2 (cyl) tube where it attaches to the main tube, of the pass. side Poston header.
Of course I would rather not have to deal with this at all, but I have got to mention that I called Poston and there were no questions asked. They just said send it back and they will send a new one out
.
When I install the new one I would like to use new header to cylinder head bolts this time around, which I should have done the first time. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Does ARP make a set? SS maybe? I think the type with the smaller hex head on it would really be a benefit on the passenger side. Especially for the lower center bolt, that you cant really get to very well. Any info/ suggestions would be much appreciated.
