Oh well...I'm sure it won't be the last loss.
Today I pulled out the intercooler and did the cleanup on it, dropped in a 160* T-stat and put on the HD Kirban's intercooler hoses. :) Other than this, I've so far done the other typical maintenance (plugs/wires, oil, fuel filter, vacuum hoses, )
Tonight I had a 1st gen Lighting follow me further out on Rt. 37. I know the truck was heavily modded (big cam, blower, etc.), but I figured I could hold him off a bit. I launched the car nice (flash 1-2 psi, release brake to full throttle), squeaked out of the hole with an instant 1/2 car. Scratched 2nd, turned into 1-1 1/2 cars. I hit 3rd (D) and hear him coming. Ran up to about 85-90 and he was a car out on me. :(
I'll just keep plugging along. Next plan is a Racetronix pump, 237 regulator and a chip (undecided). After that I'm thinking an adjustable wastegate actuator and definitely some gauges.
I would have crushed this truck with the old combo in the 'Stang, I need to get the Regal there too.

you have a KB blower,,,, right?

I remember reading your posts @ the corral when you bought it. Man, you have really picked up some mph since I last read about it! I had a lazer red 94 w/ a few mods(gears, pullies,NOS). I sold it to a friend and bought a 86 GN. I love this car! Do you have a scan tool? I hope to order mine this week(scanmaster). Good luck! Ross L

From your GT sig, it looks like you know what to do to go faster :) . The Lightning race sounded like fun. I rode in a low 12 GT awhile back and it pulled hard, but from my research, it looks like they don't 60' well.

You get that TR running 119, you can have a low 11 instead of a 12.0. Looks like you are adding stuff now, so I would mention some BFG DRs for the street or track, scanmaster, then add some Xylene for 20 to 22 psi on the street. Add a higher timing 100 chip like a Thrasher and you'l be happy with the results. The stock setups seem to like more timing. Tim

I had the car running pretty well with the KB combo, until it split the block. :(
The times in my sig were on DR's with a 1.94 60ft. I never had any true passes at the track on ET Streets with it.
After breaking, I decided to step it up a bit. The new combo is a fully forged Scat kit, B50 block, Ross pistons, AFR 185's with upgraded valve springs, etc., etc. I'm still planning on running a Novi 2000 on it, and am picking the cam as such. I still have to decide on a tranny. This combo should be good for a conservative 550-600rwhp. If I can get the car down the track decently, it should run in the 130's.
Anyway...about the TR...
I don't have a scan tool yet. But a Scanmaster is on my list. I think these cars are easier to work on than the old 5.0's. Everything is so accessible and convenient it's weird.
I was looking at my stock catalytic conv. today. Maybe I need to do something about that. I've heard that a gutted cat or test pipe is worth 20hp. :)

The test pipe comes with the aftermarket exhausts like the Hooker 2.5". My cat must have been clogged on the GN and it made a big difference when I installed the exhaust and test pipe.

Snorman do not sweat it:D I will come over the bridge and spank anything you want when the stage engine is done.

Stick to your plan, looks like your going in the right direction. If your on a budget, you could do the homemade adj actuator. Spend that on a fuel psi guage and throw in an injector cleaning. Having the Fuel/boost right is where I feel the biggest seat of the pants gains. Injectors may be a bit scammer making it rich.
Another cheap trick would be to add Postons base lid for the stock air box with a good stock replacement filter. Last, where permitted gut the cat. Get car in good state of tune w/ SM and go back and crush this guy.:)

I agree w/ Dan, scrap the 237 for an adj one. Got to get that fuel right.;)

Keep all the boys off rt37. I was with my best friend last night NJ STATE TROOPER. Dover TWSP has called in the big boys to hammer all racers on 37. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, they had 10 troopers hidding all over shooting radar and 5 dover police. They have even gotten the web site which i will not post here, They are aware where everyone is racing. They are writting wreckless tickets 8 pts and a speeding ticket 4pt or more. One stop and you could loose your DL. Be careful:eek: This detail from what i am told will not stop until they get to the bottom of it.

Actually, I already picked up a 237 regulator. I saw it on a few of the recipes on gnttype.org and figured I'd grab one. I also was a bit more confident of working with a known entity as far as fuel pressure. I figured I'd get a scan tool, and an adjustable wastegate actuator and adjust boost based on O2's. I suppose I could sell it and buy a Kirbans AFPR.
What's the difference between the Poston's base and the OEM airbox base? I ordered a Poston's catalog last week, I haven't got it yet.

njturbo,
Yeah...I heard the same thing.
The bottom line is that they'll never stop racing in Toms River. The PD's won't be able to devote resources 24/7 when they have real crime to address.
I've heard all kinds of crazy rumors...from cops in unmarked, modified Mustangs and F-bodies to hidden cameras on the tops of poles along 37.
There is nothing to "get to the bottom of". It's a bunch of guys out looking to do some street racing. It's not like it's some kinda' conspiracy hatched by an ex-con hidden in a basement on a computer somewhere.
I also know about the website...and everybody local who uses (used?) that website knows the cops know. They moved everything several months ago. The only way to access the boards is to know somebody and have them vouch for you. I haven't taken the time to move to the new site, but I will soon.
It was dead last night, I think everybody knew about the cops. So they'll pick another night, it won't stop.

Poston's base lid creates an open element. It uses the oem lid to look stock. (cheap) If your planning on adjusting the boost and once in a while running some good gas. Your going to be hard pressed to get a good tune w/ the 237.

Snorman

I got a nice set of heads and intake for you. That will open that roach up for you. :D
