I just bought a deep dish art car trans pan for a great price of $100 thanks to wes at alky controll(he da man),my question is does the deep dish by itself help stop the cavitaing or did i need to add the bottom feed filter off the 700r4?would it be worth taking it back off and installing it?what year trans filter do i ask for?whats the extra wire extention thing i heard of for?

next question is how many quarts in total do i need to add to fill it,it drained for a few days before i installed the new pan...i hear the new pan holds 2 more quarts, but how many does a normal oil change take on a trans?

thanks in advance...

Without the 700 filter you are defeating the purpose of trying to prevent cavitation. The fluid slosh will still uncover the stock filter no matter which pan is on there unless you put in an oil deflector at the rear of the trans. Id still go with the 700 filter no matter what. Be sure the pressure switch does not ground on the filter if you are using it for anything. Use an insulated connector to prevent unwanted grounding of the switch circuit. The 700 filter uses the bottom rear for pick up and the 200 4-R one uses the front top of the filter:eek: . Id also overfill 1/2 to 1quart.

I have the deep pan from Donnie Wang, DBA DRW Transmissions- which is basically the same as which you just bought. That pan holds approx 2 extra quarts- the filter to get is one for a 89 chevy 1/2 pick up two wheel drive, 350 motor, 700R4 trans- just won't be able to use the pan gasket that comes with it- and like Bison said above, after you bringthe level up to full, add another quart. Just did mine last week, took eight quarts total- HTH's

did you have to add the wire thing bison talked about?

If you have the BRF GN tranny, the 700 R4 filter installed is real close to the one pressure switch on the passenger side of the trans. What I did was to get some of the liquid plastic in a tube (stuff that you dip wrenches and ratchets in to insulate) and I insulated the bottom of the connecting clip that is attached to the pressure switch. You can get real creative here, just find somehting to insulate it- you will see what we mean when you install the filter-;)
