Denatured alcohol?

Hey Guys-
I was at Home Depot looking for Xylene the other day, and all they had were these jugs of denatured alcohol. Is this what people are running in their cars? I'm going to hit the paint store today to see if I can find any, maybe eliminate my knock problem. Thanks a lot

Check the post a few entries down (pump gas alky). Denatured alcohol is what you want to use in an alcohol injection system, NOT something you want to pour into your tank to raise the octane. It would be sweet if it worked that way, but alas.

As for Xylene, you can make your own batch at home. I'm sure if you did a search on here for Xylene, you would get a few hits. I remember a site that told you what to mix, and what you could expect for octane gains. Good luck!
