I am Still working on getting my car together. Engine & trans done. Rear end is stock original with 104 k on it
I plan on going with a TA rear cover and 30 spline Moser Axles. I was also going with an Eaton until I heard about this Truetrac.
Anyone using a Detroit Truetrac or Eaton posi I will take any feedback you got.
I am still up in the air on a trans brake @ this point. Car mostly used on street but will see track time. 109 .30 over , ported irons , alky , 60 lb. inj, CPT66bb , Art Car 9in N/LU w/ 2800 stall
Thanks

I have a TruTrac in my pickup and I like it, but for the Buick I would go Eaton...Some people making good power in the LS1 world have tore up TruTrac's and the good old Eaton is proven to go fast.

Also one of the reasons I wanted a TruTrac for my truck is I put TONS of miles on it, so the TruTrac appealed to me because there is nothing to wear out in it...But I don't drive the Buick enough to wear anything out so Eaton would be my choice.

Eaton or Auburn. Same unit I believe. I'm going Eaton with a 30 spline Moser as well. That is a common and proven combo with our cars.

Not the same unit, Auburn is non rebuildable eaton is.

Talking to Moser on the phone the other day was the first I had heard of using Truetrac in a TB  . I will be going Eaton unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Brett - finally got thru to HR to order my bar. Nice people.
Thanks

My friend Henry put a Detroit, either a locker or a tru-trak, can not remember
but after a couple of K miles this thing would make the most horrible noise when turning, as if bearings and nuts and bolts were coming undone, I personally several yrs. ago went with 30 spline Moser and a factory Eaton rebuild from the guys in Kentucky, can not remember their name either but they still might be a sponsor here, I knew they were when I got my stuff, great to deal with also. HTH And I'm glad I went back to the factory set-up, alot of times OEM is just better.

I have a True-Trak in my 68 Camaro behind a ZZ502 and TKO-600 and love it. I beat the stew out of it too.
I don;'t know enough about Eatons to say what's better...but I love my True-Trak.

Lockers always make noise around corners (normal) and are not recommended for any kind of cornering duty other than nice n' slow.;)

True-Traks are nice and quiet...if it was one of these, maybe he got a rotten egg or there was an assembly error.

I hammer down just after the apex in my Camaro and can drift it in perfect control out of the corner one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter.....smoooooooooooooth.....;)

I just put in a Eaton 28 spline posi unit and moser axle so far so good. knock on wood.......Not a sound or vibration in the turns, etc.

The Eaton came with a bright yellow tag that said
DONT USE SYNTHETIC FLUID WILL HAMPER CLUTCH OPERATION.
I went with dino valivoline and 1 bottle of limited slip additive

Strenth wise not rebuildability.

Uh where I come from same unit means same unit...Like same...as in not different in any way...Like, well you know, the same.

I do not think the auburn is even as strong, BUT I don't have any evidence to the fact.

I spoke with Bigwood and a couple other veteran TR guys last week and they said they are essentially the same unit as far as durability. I think for a street car either would be fine but most guys I know locally use the Eaton and have had no issues with it.

Another good thing about the true-trak...no clutches to wear out.
But the Moser 12-bolt rear end I have my true-trak in came with a similar note....don't use synthetic.
