I tried a search on this but didn't find what I was looking for...Blue tops are 36pph. Ok got that...NOW, are they rated differently then gm? What I mean is that when we (fbody people) switch to ford injectors we don't go by the typical ratings. Like say we have a ford 24pph SVO injector. On our fbodies it's more like 26 or a little higher. Is this the same way with our cars? When I called PTE to get a chip made for my car and I said 36pph injectors they asked me if they are 36pph or "blue tops" I said blue tops and asked them if there is a difference, and they said yeah...I didn't think much of it then so I didn't ask them ;) Now I got thinking and was wondering if it's the same way as the fbodies. If so...what would the rating be for our cars?

F-body and G-body engines work in almost the exact same ways. They are the same engines, ours are just 6 and not 8.

Blue tops have a different spray pattern then other injectors and can produce a lot of hp. I'm not sure that other 36# injectors would produce less or more (it wouldnt be a lot of change).

36# is 36# no matter what company makes them.

We've always been told different  I always went with the idea because if (theoretical) ford rated their injectors at 36# @40psi And gm rated their 36#@50psi...Wouldn't that mean the fords flow more at a gm rating of 50psi? Maybe I'm totally off here but it sounded good to me :D

It does sound right if they do rate them at 40psi. I never noticed that, but never had any bluetops or any cars.

It just depends on the flow numbers, maybe GMs run 40# @ 50 psi, and Fords run 40# @ 50 but different at lower pressures, i'm not really sure but would like to know.

Well as far as the ratings I just made them up. BUT I've heard they do something like that. Anyone know?

You are correct...Ford rates their injectors at lower pressure then the rest of the industry, this is because Ford runs a lower fuel pressure then everyone else in the industry.

Ford rates injectors somewhere in the 30's PSI, and the rest of the industry rates them at 40 somthing.

Obviously injectors flow more at higher pressures.

Actually there are two different types of "Ford blue tops". Those that we use (36#), and the light blue ones (24#).

Dave, I actually got into an argument with my brothers about bluetops...I was saying they are 36# and they were saying 24# Then I finally took a look at theirs and low and behold they were a different blue ;) Looks like I lost that one...but so did they :)
