I ran into to someone today I have known for a long time. I knew he had a GN but hadn't seen him in years... Just bumped into him today and you know I asked if it was for sale:biggrin: He said no of course...

Point is, we got to talking and he started telling me about all the problems he had with the car. I asked some basic questions and every single question came back with, "I replaced that, I replaced that, etc..." Well turns out all of the products came from one buick vendor. I will not say their name and trash them. They are not nor has ever had been a vendor on TB! He bought all these parts from these guys and now the car runs worse than stock...

PLEASE let everyone with a buick you know to get on line and do a little research before ordering products. I feel sorry for the guy. When I asked about the chip I knew it was all over:frown: If you see someone in town with one, let them know about TurboBuick.com or what ever board. Just get them to research before ordering out of a catalog....

Again this is not a knock against anyone, I just get tired of seeing the same thing happen to people over and over. It happened to me. Thank goodness I found the boards and then Jay, or I would still be throwing good money behind bad on junk.....

Happens all the time, but it is his own fault for not asking or researching. Can't fault the Buick vendors for selling parts, that is their job. It is like blaming a car dealer for selling a car when all the customer needed was an air filter. It is the customer's fault for not arming themselves with all the information necessary to make a competent decision. On the other hand, if someone approached a vendor with a question on a repair or combo, shame on them for misleading or taking advantage of a customer. I tend to believe the latter is not as likely.

I've spent about $22k and need a bit more to go  and i would like to say thanks sgrim, cause i (like a bunch of other guys ) did it mostly out of the vendors you have here. we would have been in bad shape just like your friend. still it would be nice to avoid them on ( especially on e-bay )

How could anyone own one of these cars and a computer and not know about this site? I think this was the second useful site I found after GNTTPYE.ORG

The internet could be a problem, still alot of people without it....

I usually compare modifying a GN to lifting weights.

If you do your research and know what you're doing, you'll make big gains within a short time frame and know how to sustain it. If you haven't done any research, you'll screw up your body, look like an idiot and not have anything to show for your uneducated work.
Same applies to a GN, dont know what you're doing, you'll **** up the car, and waste time and money.

Especially if you dont have a strong mechanical background, a lot of research has to be done on these cars before owning.

+1!!

I dont know if the internet is a curse or a blessing. On one hand you have some old fart with a GN telling you he's ran 10 seconds on the stock turbo and IC and than you have some teenager telling you he can beat a GN with a Civic because he read it on the internet. How many times have you ran across somebody at a car show or race and they didn't even have an e-mail address?

id rather get ripped off privately by 1 person then ripped off publically by 1 person on a forum with 20,000 plus people watching it unfold and go down. not to mention how embarrassing it is to be ripped off publically then privately. if a vendor lies and its proven he needs to leave and be regulated against, then prevented from coming back. he/she should definitely not be "SUPPORTED" and loved because of their disinformation and lies. if people/vendors do NOT have a threat of losing anything and do not have to tell the truth publically, they will continue their behavior until someone forces them too. lying = worst possible action a vendor can possibly commit.

the internet is the most amazing blessing ever! for 1 simple reason.... information!

the problem isn't information now, its DISinformation we have to worry about.
people who would rather lie and cheat to make money then be honest and a true american.
having the net full of information is both a blessing and a curse, but the information
which is truthfull outweighs the liers and cheaters who ABUSE the information our world has gained.
its the abusers of information you have to worry about not the people or the net itself.
