went to the track yesterday. it was my first time on a slick. i usually just run with drag radials. ne way on dr's the car's best is 12.8 @ 108. yet yesterday on the slicks the car would not mph over 106. i ran 12.8xs @ 106 all day long. i'm trying to figure out where that 2 mph went. could it have been the slicks? TIA

also the the slick is 27 inches tall and my dr's are only 26.3 or so..could that have been the reason?

my opinion

I run 26x9and a halfx15s,hoosiers.full slicks.I only ran 13 lbs in the tires and launched with 4 lbs of boost my times all day were 12.51@106 with a 60 foot of 1.89.So maybe youre not launching hard enough. Its tough to set up.Do one thing at a time air bags first(5onright 15 on left), tires at 14lbs, Boost out at 5 lbs.Keep youre boost and bags the same while working your way down 1 pound at a time with the tire pressure.Check to make sure your shocks are in good order.Youve got the mph for a low to mid 12 second car. What are all your mods

mods are walbro 340 pump n hotwire, hooker catback, 2.75 bgc dp, adj fuel press regulator, reds 100 chip, and 160 stat. pretty basic setup i got. i have no airbags.

the car needs motor mounts and is getting knock at the line, i think thats the reason for the poor 60 ft time. i had a friend drive it and he 60'd just as bad as i did. he's had his buick since 87 and it goes hi 9's low 10's. thanks for the help.

Yes, slicks will eat mph vs. radials. Your mph drop is well within what would be considered normal. I've found that slicks make a car more suseptable to false knock, also. Get that under control and your mph should go up, even with slicks.

Yup, slicks will eat up MPH, but should get you better ET's. You will need to lanch the car harder to see it happen.

You should be able to leave with more boost on slicks so give it a try.

well the reason for the bad 60 ft's is.....at the line the motor is torqin over and causin false knock due to the fact that it needs a mount and has no torque strap. so that answers that ?... but it still should have mph'd at 108 u'd think. thanks for the replies guys.

Nope. Slicks have a higher rolling resistance compounded by the softer sidewall. A 1-2 mph loss is typical over radials.

Will ET Streets cause a loss of mph over BFG drag radials since the ET Streets are bias ply?
