Her is an idea that stems off the last thread going.
I think it would being more people to the table in each class.

I just use the three top classes.
Make them all OUTLAW rules.

TSO,TSL,TSM, put a limit on weight,turbo,tire.

There seem to be many cars here that one rule or another stops them from attending and racing, well that is one less car for that class.

Take a car for instance that fits TSM rules put has mini tubs cause the guy like his big drag radial under the car, he is out and no falls into TSL or TSO i which he may not even qualify.

does having mini tubs give him any advantage if his tire is within rule? NO!

Just my thought that may bring more cars to the table.

Another reason for this is it would leave some cars able to run and qualify for local races they can run and compete, where they will be left behind otherwise.

I agree...

BTW, added a word to the title for you:biggrin:

Tech would be simple, read the tire, scale the car, plug turbo. DONE!

I agree that most guys (except a few) like to build their cars the way they want it to be, which is understandable and NOT with the sole purpose to make it "fit" into a specific class. Even NHRA is contemplating dropping class racing (Stock, Super Stock, etc...) Class racing has become too expensive to race in, and to build a competitive car under too many strict rules. Does it make sense that an NHRA legal stock eliminator class car running 11's or 10's often costs more than a 9 sec "Super Gas" style bracket car? No, at least not to me. No wonder why they're showing up in fewer numbers. There are some classes at national events in which there is only one car or no car at all!
I much prefer bracket, handicap-style racing even if the tendency these days is towards heads-up racing. I think that bracket racing gives everyone, fast or slow, rich or not, a chance at winning and most important HAVE FUN.
Also, some guys will rather stay at home and no longer race because the of the rules which are too restrictive putting their cars in a class where they don't have a chance of winning a single run. The fun factor = 0. :frown:

Claude.

Great idea, look at NHRA unleashed program.:rolleyes:The drawing card are a few heads up classes and index classes for anyone else:biggrin:.EVERYBODY has a place to race.Claude you have a good perspective on the class racing at NHRA it is for the wealthy and is dying a slow death:(

I still say TSA is a cool class. But then like mentioned before, the guy with the most money to dump in the engine wins. Let's face it, the guy with the stock long block isn't gonna stand a chance to the guy with ported heads, roller cam, and a stroker kit. If there's going to be a class that limits the build, they should make the tsa guys run stock turbos. THAT should make things real interesting:biggrin:

In the..

"FWIW" dept...

I discussed this w/ Ed Swearingen @ the Muscle car meet.
He's seeing more bracket competitors that used to race NHRA class racing.

As for "super" classes... Watch the stands empty when they come up.
People come to see RACING, wheelies, etc.. Not throttle stop BS.. [I'm one of the fans heading to the pits when they announce that part of the program.]

I'm fortunate enuf to have been an active racer some 50+ yrs ago. The "evolution" of electronic everything, has been one reason I am seeing the decline in interest...
Want to see some real racing??? Make a trip to the Nostalgia Nats., the Geezer Gassers, The HEMI S/S Shootout @ Indy.

One of the most popular draws at our local track was HEADS UP/RWUB...We had a race 1 Sat a month. Usually had 10-15 cars.
Rosin burnouts, 10#/CI, gas only...DAMN! That was fun.:D ALWAYS had a great crowd, too. Sure would be fun to see that again....

I'm now one of the folks that Lonnie D says should "resign" from TBS...

No longer have a TR.:frown:
Do have a 55 Chevy w/ an LSX in it!:D:p
