disc brakes are approved as adequate axle retention , but you must have c-clip axles . if you upgrade to race axles that don't use c-clips and want to run discs you'll still need c-clip eliminators (or ford style bearing ends) to keep the axles from free floating
i assume the question about clips is because the car is mostlikely going to the track where those rules apply , but be aware with discs even though your covered on the axle retain rule your holding power to build boost will be reduced , if you have a trans brake or a good spooling combo that doesnt need to build boost for a good launch then go discs , youll have better stopping at the top of the track
