I just recently bought a 1985 Buick Regal Limited (3.8 V6) for only $800. It's a fixer upper, but its not too bad. Its got a near perfect interior, minor rust spots, some scratches...but its all good. I plan on semi-restoring it pretty soon.

I've looked around the internet for this, but I can't seem to find the information anywhere. Does anyone know how much horsepower these V6 Regals put out, or how fast they do 0-60's and 1/4 miles at stock specs? You would think there would be at least one site that gives specifications about the stock vehicles, but I dont have any luck in the search.

If you can help out, that would be great.

1/4 mile is 19.15 @ 70.54 mph and I think its 126 Hp not sure though. If your interested in hooking up the engine let me know i've done tons of research and i have alot of information on parts and stuff.

P.S. Most of the stuff to hook up the engine that i found isn't expensive either believe me, I don't have it like that to be spending thousands (yet, I hope)

;) :D

The 2bbl 3.8 was rated at 110HP and the 4bbl 4.1 was 140HP. I am currently using an 82 Regal 3.8NA to drive back and forth to work and it runs out of steam after 70MPH so I'm surprised that one could do the 1/4 under 20. Eric Fisher

where did u buy the car and what color? i jus sold a 85 Limited and would be neat if you bought it, plus ive done research also on buildin up the 3.8 n/a

3.8

I bought the 85 Buick over here in Cedar Rapids...I dont think it was yours, mine has a little rust and no special stereo.

I am very interested in this research you have about building up that 3.8...if you want, you can just keep replying or email me at swankerme@msn.com.

Hi, Your Buick have an advertised horspower rating of 110hp@3800rpm and 190lb-ft of torque @ 1600rpm. These number are good for the normally aspirated 3.8litre from 1981 to 1987 (ref:Chilton Repair Manual Buick Century / Regal 1975-87).

1975: 110hp @ 4000, 175ft lbs @ 2000
1976: 105hp @ 3400, 185ft lbs @ 2000
1977: 105hp @ 3200, 185ft lbs @ 2000
1978: 105hp @ 3400, 185fl lbs @ 2000
1979: Head upgrade (intake ports and exhaust ports for better flow numbers)
1979-80: 115hp @ 3800, 190ft lbs @ 2000
1981-87: 110hp @ 3800, 190ft lbs @ 1600

For the performance number I don't really know. 0 to 60 it's surely between 13 and 14 sec. and quater mile around 20 sec.
